MINUTES OF SENATE COUNCIL MEETING

June 5, 2013

PRESENT:  Drs. Allen Spiegel, Jeffrey Segall, Elyse Sussman, Robbie Burk, Francine Einstein, Harris Goldstein, Ulrich Kadolsky, Nadine Katz, Genevieve Neal-Perry, Victor Schuster, Pamela Stanley, Mr. Michael Lubrano, Drs. Stephen Baum, Ed Burns

The May 1 meeting minutes were approved.

The ongoing sequester, its effects on NIH funding, and the consequences for the College were discussed.  This will have effects on recruitment and other research expansion plans. 

The MPH program will be wound down due to insufficient students.

There are plans to recruit an outside consulting firm that will evaluate the operations and funds flow of the college in order to guide us towards financial sustainability. 

Plans for the education center are ongoing and philanthropic support is coming in to support the expenses for building it.
