MINUTES OF SENATE COUNCIL MEETING

January 22, 2014

The resignation of Marc Milstein was discussed. John Fcasni will be interim CIO.

Regarding the Awards Committee which selects applications solicited from Einstein by external funding sources, one of the current chairs will be rotating off and suggestions for a replacement are being solicited.

There is a new Urology chair – Mark Schoenberg who will be starting April first. Finalists for chair of Medicine are being interviewed. An OB/GYN chair search is under way.

A recent report in the Bloomberg News (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-22/madoff-haunts-yeshiva-as-university-slides-to-junk-muni-credit.html ) was discussed with a focus on the fiscal status of YU and the implications for Einstein.

The Dean met with the Basic Science Chairs, and discussed interim support and the graduate program. The Dean is soliciting input from the Chairs regarding how best to maintain these important programs in the face of the continuing fiscal difficulties.

The meeting adjourned at 4:05 p.m.
