Potential agenda items were discussed. A presentation by Al Seminsky tentatively will take place later in October.

Dean Spiegel summarized the Board of Visitors meeting at University of Pittsburgh Medical School.

There was a discussion of the structure of Einstein and Montefiore. Montefiore Medicine is a corporate entity whose components include clinical entities (such as Montefiore Medical Center, New Rochelle and Mount Vernon, White Plains Hospital, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital) and passive partners (such as St Lukes/Cornwall and Nyack ), and Einstein (as a 501c3 with its own board). Montefiore Medicine has its own board with David Tanner as chair. The Dean’s additional position as Chief Academic Officer at Montefiore Medicine does not change his duties and responsibilities as Dean of Einstein but does add responsibility for some aspects of the Montefiore residency programs as well as any other educational components that may develop.

Dr. Freedman continued her presentation of the graduate school. Currently there are 240 students in the graduate program with an anticipated further decrease as additional students graduate. The goal is to bring this running total to 310. Due to lack of time, her presentation was interrupted and will continue at the October 5 meeting.
