After approval of the Minutes, Dr. Allen Spiegel gave his Dean’s report which comprised of few items. One regarded the event held at Einstein where Governor Cuomo addressed the ACA issue and his intent to invest 50 million in Montefiore Health Care System. Another item regarded discussions that occurred or will occur at the Senate Council meetings dealing with the tenure policy. The Dean also reported on the LCME letter granting Einstein 8 years’ accreditation and further described the steps necessary to obtain full accreditation; this involves the LCME, the NY State of Education, the Middle Sate Commission of Higher Education and the US Department of Education.

Jeffrey Segall on his Speaker’s report summarized the two previous Council meetings since last Senate meeting. Items discussed were the tenure process which will be presented by the Dean at the next meeting in April and the merit-based increases in salary which the Chairs determine how it will be distributed.

Dr. Saha, Director Office of Grant Support gave a power point presentation describing the duties and services provided by his Office.
