The Dean reported on the Chairs meeting. The new Radiology Chair, Judy Yee was introduced.

The proposed membership for the Committees on Appointments and Promotions was discussed. The CAPs were approved. It was noted that some basic science departments were not represented but that with annual turnover, the expectation is that their representation will return in subsequent years in order to maintain departmental familiarity with the promotions process.

The role of departmental promotion committees was discussed, and it was agreed that Ed Burns will ask Tara Panebianco to query the chairs regarding their current departmental promotions procedures.

The Senate will shift the October 25 meeting to Robbins to provide flexibility for attending Steve Safyer’s presentation.

Future agenda topics for discussion are:
Student housing (check with Jed Shivers)
Tenure process
Progress in merging large programs – HR, boards, development
Pathway to emeritus status/buyouts.
