The minutes for April 10 were approved.
The Middle States self study is being set up as part of the degree granting process. Approval by Homeland Security for allowing us to accept foreign students is delayed due to their backlog in processing applications. Refinement of the IT/AV plan for the upgrade is under way. The issue of software availability for research personnel at Montefiore was raised. Curriculum changes will include more developmental assessment for the medical students for next year, and evaluating the scheduling of student time. Interviews for Pediatrics and ENT chair candidates are proceeding as are cancer center director negotiations To get an overview of philanthropy, it was proposed to invite Rachelle Sanders and Kristen Kidder to present to the Council.
There was discussion of the current academic departmental organization. Topics included having regularly scheduled departmental reviews, the lack of hiring of new faculty in the past, the value of the basic departmental structure, and the possibility of reorganizing departments.
The meeting adjourned at 4 p.m.
