Dean’s Report
Dean Allen Spiegel reported on the recent 2011 Lasker Lecture at Einstein, as well as his participation in a US News and World Report summit concerning the ranking of medical schools.
Speaker’s Report
Senate Speaker Jeff Segall reported on recent Senate Council activity. The Council has been discussing the need for mentoring, particularly for Assistant Professors, while at the same time acknowledging that individuals at all levels can benefit from mentoring. Jeff also described the upcoming election process for Senate Council members.
Committee on Committees
Vinayaka Prasad, Chair of the Committee on Committees, informed the Senate that there was nothing to report.
Harry Shamoon: Expanding Opportunities for Research Funding and Collaboration
Harry Shamoon, Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research, talked about the “Collaboration Zone” within the Einstein website, where there are tools to facilitate collaboration, identification of funding opportunities, and exchange of reagents.
Ruth Angeletti: Proteomics Core--Mass Spectrometry for Your Basic and Translational Research
Ruth Angeletti, Scientific Director of the Proteomics Core, provided an overview of the services provided by this core facility.
Gordon Earle: Website Redesign
Gordon Earle,Associate Dean for Communications and Public Affairs, provided a preview of the redesigned Einstein website which will be launched soon.
