- Meeting minutes from the Apr 7, 2021 meeting were reviewed, and revisions recommended.
- Dean Tomaselli provided an update on several items: (a) The 180th street shuttle is being reevaluated; (b) An affiliation agreement with Jacobi is currently being renegotiated – this directly affects 3rd year medical student clerkships, many of which occur at Jabobi; (c) Vaccinations are not currently mandated for incoming medical students in part because the vaccines have not yet been granted full FDA approval. This will be reevaluated when the vaccines are FDA approved; (d) Results from the vaccination survey: 85% of people have responded, and among those 87% have reported receiving at least one dose.
- There was discussion about the taskforce assigned to manage COVID-19 and Einstein reopening. The Council requested that the purview and membership of the taskforce be presented to the Einstein Faculty Senate. Dean Tomaselli indicated the administration was committed to return to a 100% occupancy limit (full reopening), but the timeline is dependent on state and NYC guidelines.
- Drs. Achkar, Sidoli, and Gamble led an extensive discussion about research computing requirements at Einstein. In general, there is a need for more resources to handle large datasets, and improved awareness and accessibility of resources for research computing. The Dean and the Council discussed the creation of a taskforce to further explore and execute some of the recommendations.
The meeting adjourned at 4:04 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jonathan Lai, Ph.D.
Vice Speaker, Einstein Senate
