Hector R. Perez, M.D.

Professional Interests
Dr. Hector Perez's broad research background includes several projects in health disparities research, specifically in Hispanic populations. In conjunction with the New York-Presbyterian Community Health Plan, he worked on the early stages of a healthcare needs assessment of the predominantly Latino Washington Heights area of Northern Manhattan. As a research assistant under Dr. Emilio Carrillo of Cornell University Medical College, he conducted a review of the literature on health access barriers and their effects on health outcomes, published in the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved. During residency training, he led a qualitative study on the health experiences of persons who stutter, soon to be published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Perez holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed the Montefiore Einstein Primary Care-Social Internal Medicine Program, as well as a T32 Primary Care Research Fellowship in the Division of General Internal Medicine along with a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at NYU Langone Medical Center.
