Elizabeth M. Clark, M.D.

Professional Interests
Dr. Elizabeth Clark is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Attending Physician at Montefiore Medical Center. She is also Senior Clinical Advisor at the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing.
Dr. Clark has been instrumental in developing a variety of clinical and clinical education programs to improve the care of older adults and those with life-limiting disease. Since joining the Montefiore Einstein Division of Geriatrics in 2012, she has established a geriatrics/palliative care/renal consultation service and led the development of electronic medical record (EMR) templates to document advance care planning discussions and geriatrics/palliative care consultations. Prior to joining Montefiore Einstein, Dr. Clark was founder and chief of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, medical director of the outpatient geriatrics practice at Mount Sinai Hospital, director of the Geriatrics Clinic at Metropolitan Hospital, and Associate Director/Clinical in the Geriatrics Research Education and Clinical Center at the Bronx VA Hospital, one of 20 specialized geriatric centers in the nationwide VA system.
Dr. Clark teaches in a number of medical school courses and gives noon conferences for neurology, nephrology and geriatrics on palliative care, prognostication, and advance care planning. She currently works as a primary care provider in the Department of Medicine Faculty Practice and as a geriatrics/palliative consulting physician for the Montefiore Chronic Kidney Care Program.
A graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe College and New York Medical College, Dr. Clark completed internal medicine residency training at Montefiore in 1988. Her areas of interest include advance care planning, comprehensive geriatric assessment, dementia, medical ethics, palliative care for chronic disease, and advanced communications skills training for all levels of learners. She has spoken locally, nationally and internationally at geriatrics and palliative care conferences.
