Educators must be able to respond professionally to incidents of bias and /or discrimination in multiple settings. This workshop will provide participants with the necessary foundation to build skills to handle discriminatory situations efficiently and effectively. Participants will learn how to increase their awareness and preparedness on how to address and engage in these conversations which can lead to impactful changes in the work and learning environments.
By the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:
- Illustrate the impact of structural racism, implicit bias & microaggresions in healthcare.
- Demonstrate ways to interrupt bias and discrimination in multiple settings within academic medical centers.
- Review strategies to mitigate bias, racism, and discrimination across multiple personal relationships, including between colleagues, patients and learners.
