Eligibility

• Outstanding undergraduate students considering the SURP program must meet the following criteria:
• A strong background in the sciences (biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, bioengineering or chemical engineering, etc.).
• Completion of junior year in college. In rare instances, sophomores with strong science and/or research backgrounds may be considered. Freshmen and seniors (graduating in Spring/Summer 2024) will not be considered.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
   

Application Materials

Detailed application instructions are available in the online application system. Applicants can track the status of their application, including the status of their letters of recommendation and transcripts via the online application system.

• Completed online application
• Scanned copies of your academic transcripts
• 2 letters of recommendation
• Personal Statement

Due to the overwhelming number of applications we receive each year, we are unable to respond personally to questions regarding your application status. All applicants will be notified by email on or about May 1 if your application is still under consideration for the Summer Undergraduate Research Program.
