Senate Meeting: Wednesday, June 3, 2015

Dean Spiegel reported on the ongoing transition. He mentioned that the blackout period will extend from June 8th till July 1st. Regarding other issues related to the transition, Dean Spiegel mentioned that the accreditation status of Albert Einstein College of Medicine is expected by end of June, after the LCME meeting that month. Dean Spiegel emphasized the importance of recruiting new Chairs for Medicine and Neuroscience-Brain Research Institute and for the Director of the Cancer Center to achieve the strategic goals.

Jeffrey Segall mentioned that at the Einstein Board of Overseers meeting, he, as the speaker for the Senate, gave a brief presentation about the tenure and compensation policy and the resolutions that to some extent contributed to the negotiation. Dr. Segall mentioned that the amendments to the tenure policy were approved.
