MINUTES OF SENATE COUNCIL MEETING

PRESENT: Drs. Allen Spiegel, Elyse Sussman, Myles Akabas, Barbara Birshtein, Roy Chuck, Johanna Daily, Pamela Stanley, Ed Burns, Allison Ludwig, Mr. Ross Firestone

EXCUSED: Drs. Jeffrey Segall, Ellie Schoenbaum, Victor Shuster, Olivia Vergnolle

ABSENT: Steven Almo, Chandan Guha, Steve Walkley

Al Seminsky will be rescheduled to speak to the Senate Council in November.

Current recruitment activity:

1. Search for Cancer Center Director will begin Nov 1. Vern Schramm is the Chair of the committee. The ultimate goal is to have an integrated Cancer Center for Einstein-Montefiore, encompassing basic and translational research, training, and clinical care.
2. Division Directors searches are being initiated in the Depts. of Medicine and Pediatrics
3. Three Chair searches are underway in the Depts. of Radiology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry
4. Faculty recruitments are being made into the Liver Center through the Dept. of Medicine
5. Six new faculty recruits will be made into the Dept. of Neuroscience, along with additional co-recruits with clinical departments.
6. New recruits will be made in the Department of Biochemistry for faculty with expertise in NMR and Mass Spectrometry.

The meeting adjourned at 4:03 p.m.
