The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.

There will be a presentation regarding the integrated imaging center at the next Research Council meeting.

Proposed modifications to the graduate program will be presented to the Council in a future meeting.

The issue of faculty mentoring and supporting the development and success of junior research faculty was discussed. Each basic science chair now presents an explicit mentoring plan including research funding development to the dean. It was proposed that the council members develop a subcommittee to make a proposal for concerning grant writing assistance for larger collaborative grants for presentation to science council. It is important to remain focused with specific proposals.
