The Postdoctoral Individual Development Plan (IDP) is designed to help postdoctoral fellows balance their intense focus on a particular research problem with a broader view of the development of their scientific careers. The goal of the IDP is to evaluate each fellow’s progress toward both short-term research goals and long-term career goals, and to identify areas requiring additional attention and effort. The IDP encourages the postdoctoral fellow and the mentor to review the fellow’s progress during the past year and to identify goals for the coming year. Importantly, it also addresses the overall progress of the postdoctoral fellow toward the completion of training, helping both fellow and mentor to focus on the transition to the next stage of the fellow’s career.
The Belfer Institute requires completion of the IDP on an annual basis as part of postdoctoral training at Einstein.
The Einstein IDP can be downloaded as a Word Document.
