Professional Interests
Dr. Joseph Lurio is Medical Director of the Mount Sinai Institute for Family Health's Amsterdam Health Center. He previously served as Chief Medical Information Officer for the Institute from 2007 to 2012. Dr. Lurio is a recognized expert in health informatics and has conducted important research on clinical decision supports and their contributions to improving care and public health. He serves as senior faculty for the Mount Sinai-affiliated Harlem Residency in Family Medicine.
Dr. Lurio was the only primary care physician chosen to serve on the CDC's Task Force for the Early Identification of Childhood Neuromuscular Disorders, where he was instrumental in the development of their web-based diagnostic tool.
