Event Description:

Everyone needs to negotiate. For example: with an employer for a starting - or increase to - salary as well as for coveted lab space; with a collaborator for assistance; with a partner when faced with a decision. Negotiating successfully is a skill that can be learned, and Dr. Victor Schuster will provide information in this session empowering participants to advance their careers. You don't want to be closed out of this session.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

•Practice win-win negotiation as opposed to traditional confrontational negotiation.

•Discuss the role of the seller-buyer relationship in negotiation style and success.

•Summarize the effect of implicit bias and gender on salary and institutional startup support for women.
