Overview

The Division of Geriatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine is one of the oldest in the nation. Our mission:

  • To promote successful aging and provide the highest quality health care to older adults across all care settings.
  • To partner with medical and surgical specialties to develop innovative interdisciplinary team approaches to improve health and quality of life of older patients.
  • To conduct research from bench to bedside to improve the health of older adults in local, national and global communities.
  • To train the next generation of healthcare professionals.
  • To initiate, promote and support efforts of healthcare professionals, educators, patients, families, and policymakers to improve the health and vitality of older adult.

Dr. Joe Verghese, chief, Geriatrics, Einstein and Montefiore; and director, Montefiore Einstein Center for the Aging Brain, discusses his study in the New England Journal of Medicine which found dancing was associated with a reduced risk of developing dementia.
