Preliminary Track Our preliminary training ensures a robust foundation in Internal Medicine. Preliminary interns also follow the 6+2 schedule, with up to 6 weeks of inpatient ward or ICU time followed by 2 weeks of elective or vacation (instead of outpatient medicine). The electives include all of the inpatient medical subspecialties and Neurology, and take place on the Wakefield Campus. The curriculum is the same for both preliminary and categorical interns, except for outpatient clinic didactics.
