Pre-Employment Screening Process

As a condition of employment at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, all final candidates will need to clear our pre-employment screening process.

The Screening Process Consists of the Following:

  • Background Screening via third party vendor, Orange Tree Employment Screening which includes:
    • Social Security Trace
    • Criminal Background Investigation including Federal and State
    • Sex Offender check
    • OIG Screen
    • OFAC (Exclusion List) Screen
  • Education Verification (if degree is international, it will need to be translated and evaluated prior to start date).
  • OHS Medical Clearance (if the position the candidate is  interviewing for requires medical clearance)
    • The candidate has the option of completing the clearance through their primary care physician or through our Occupational Health Services Office.
    • If they elect to go with your primary care physician, they will be responsible for incurring the fees.
  • 9 Panel Drug Screening
    • The 9-panel drug test screens for the following controlled substances:
      • Amphetamines
      • Cocaine
      • Opioids
      • Barbiturates
      • Benzodiazepines (lorazepam (Ativan), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium)
        Other screened substances include:
        • phencyclidine
        • methaqualone
        • methadone
        • propoxyphene
