Benefits: Union Employees
Union-represented employees are provided benefits through their unions’ benefit fund organizations. Eligible union-represented employees can participate in some of the benefit offerings provided by Einstein, including commuter benefits and the Einstein retirement plan.
Current union members can access summary information about certain benefits available through the college, 1199 Members Assistance program, access benefit forms and review Einstein benefit policies by logging into Einstein’s intranet site. You will need your active directory credentials to access Einstein’s intranet site.

Commuter Benefits
Commuter benefits are available to help pay mass transit and/or parking expenses through pretax payroll deductions, which lower an employee’s taxable income.
Tuition Reimbursement
Einstein provides tuition benefits for 1199 employees for courses leading to “qualification in a field in which work is currently performed within Einstein or leading to a degree” in a field related to work performed at Einstein.
Eligibility for tuition reimbursement is determined by years of service. Employees during their first year of employment are not eligible. Employees in their second year of employment will receive a reimbursement of 25% of covered tuition costs. Employees in their third year of employment will receive a reimbursement of 50% of covered tuition costs. Employees in their fourth year of employment will receive a reimbursement of 75% of covered tuition costs. Employees after four years of service will receive 100% of covered tuition costs.
Retirement Benefits
The Einstein 403b plan is a defined-contribution plan administered by Fidelity Investments. Pretax and after-tax Roth contributions are available under this plan. Investment offerings under the plan include 3 stable-value funds, 5 bond funds and 12 stock funds, which include value, blend, growth and international funds; a real estate fund; and 13 target-date life-cycle funds.

Tuition Reimbursement
Einstein provides tuition reimbursement to NYSNA union-represented employees for all courses credited for matriculation so long as the program is in nursing or an allied field. If the employee has not matriculated, tuition reimbursement will be provided only for work-related courses, except if the employee decides to matriculate within one year from commencement of the course; in that case, the college will reimburse the employee for non-work-related courses that are credited for matriculation purposes.
The maximum annual entitlement will be $5,000 or eighteen credits, whichever is greater.
