Classroom Elective Registration
What is a Classroom Elective?
A limited number of electives are currently available to Einstein students to take as a predominately classroom based elective in year 4. These electives may involve some patient care activities, reading, research, or teaching, but also involve a significant component of non-patient care-oriented tasks with education provided in the classroom setting.
Classroom Electives Registration:
Registration Deadline:
Students MUST web-register for Einstein electives up to 4 weeks prior to the start of the elective. Before you web-register for Einstein electives, we recommend that you review the course descriptions for any specific requirements, the Course Director’s contact information, and where to report on the first day of the elective.
Elective registration is on a first-come, first-serve, space-available basis. If an Einstein Sponsored Clinical Elective requires approval from the Course Director, web registration will not be possible.
You must do the following:
Contact the elective Course Director for approval to register. If approved, students are responsible for forwarding the approval email to Einstein-MDRegistrar@einsteinmed.edu for manual registration.
Dropping Electives:
If a student no longer wishes to participate in an elective, the student must drop the course using the web-registration process no less than 4 weeks prior to the start of the elective rotation. Students who wish to drop an elective less than 4 weeks prior to the start of the elective rotation must contact the Course Director and receive approval to drop the elective. If the Course Director approves the dropping of the elective the student must notify the Registrar’s Office immediately.
Evaluation:
Obtaining a Classroom Elective - Evaluation of Student Performance and Professional Attributes for each classroom elective completed at Einstein will be the responsibility of the Office of the Registrar.
