Medical education has undergone a significant change over the past decade, with a broader range of professional skills and competencies recognized to be important in the professional activities of the physician in the modern health care arena.
The Cardiology Fellowship Program’s modern medical curriculum includes the traditionally recognized skills of medical knowledge and patient care; the always necessary but often undefined interpersonal and communication skills; and, evermore important in today’s complex integrated health care systems, professionalism, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice.
The program weaves these integral competencies into the curriculum throughout the program, taking advantage of the unique experiences of the multiple rotations to teach, give experience, and assess fellows’ competence in each area.
