Danny Lizano (center) receiving his honor at the SCCM ceremony.BRONX, NY - February 16, 2015 - Last month, Mr. Danny Lizano, PA-C, MSHS, was the ninth physician assistant (PA) to be inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM), joining an elite group of practitioners, researchers, administrators, and educators who have made outstanding contributions to the collaborative field of critical care.
Mr Lizano was born and raised in the Bronx and attended DeWitt Clinton High School. He received a bachelor of science in biology at Binghamton University in 2005 and master of science in health sciences from George Washington University in 2007. He returned to the Bronx and completed a post-graduate residency in surgery at Montefiore Medical Center with honors. He received the Michael and Ailing Sherman Award for Surgical PA Resident of the Year in 2008, and accepted a full-time position in the Division of Critical Care Medicine at Montefiore Einstein upon completion of his training.
Mr. Lizano is Director of the PA Education and Post Graduate Residency in Critical Care Medicine at Montefiore. He is an adjunct professor for the Mercy College PA program. An active member in the Society of Critical Care Medicine, he has served as Secretary/Treasurer and is currently the Chair-Elect of the Society’s PA section. He enjoys teaching surgical residents and physician assistant students, and promoting the role of physician assistants in Critical Care Medicine.
