The faculty of the division includes members whose work is focused on basic science studies and are also intimately involved in clinical care and members who perform clinical epilepsy research. Principal goals are

  1. To identify factors involved in the generation, propagation, control and consequences of seizures as they related to genetic predisposition, age and gender as well as the presence or absence of structural brain disease.
  2. To develop age- gender- and syndrome specific cures.
     
  3. To explore alternative approaches to the treatment of epilepsy.
