We serve patients and families from the New York City region including the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Long Island, Westchester, Yonkers, White Plains, northern New Jersey and other area. Our patients are cared for with a coordinated multidisciplinary team involving neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists from throughout the Montefiore Einstein system. We care for the entire spectrum of primary brain and spinal cord tumors, including glioblastoma (GBM), gliomas, astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas (oligos), spinal cord tumors, ependymomas, meningiomas, hemangioblastomas, schwannomas, neurofibromas, craniopharyngiomas, pituitary adenomas and other rare brain tumors. We see patients with familial tumors of the nervous system such as neurofibromatosis (type 1 and 2) and von Hippel Lindau disease. Our team also sees patients with neurologic complications of cancer, including brain and spine (CNS) metastases, chemotherapy neuropathy and rare paraneoplastic disorders of the nervous system. We also offer clinical trials, engage in translational and basic research and conduct regular multidisciplinary tumor boards.
In addition, we provide care for patients with autoimmune disorders of the nervous system, including multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NMO), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), myasthenia gravis (MG), stiff person syndrome (stiff man syndrome) and other disorders that require outpatients infusions such as natalizumab (Tysabri), rituximab (Rituxan) and immune globulin (IVIg).
Our specialists bring experience and training from the Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University, New York University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
