Overview
The department of oncology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Einstein is home to more than 100 physicians, scientists, and educators dedicated to advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of hematologic diseases, blood and solid tumors, and other disorders requiring chemotherapy and immunotherapeutics. Working with the National Cancer Institute-designated Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, patients, collaborators, and trainees work with leading oncologists who have access to the latest facilities and resources for patient care and research. Faculty and trainees have track record of novel and impactful discoveries in basic and clinical research in oncology.
The department is also home to a large hematology-oncology fellowship program, where postdoctoral fellows are mentored by practicing oncologists and NCI-funded clinical investigators in clinical and translational research. Fellows receive formal instruction on creating, executing, and interpreting clinical trials pertaining to thrombosis, hemoglobinopathy, hematologic malignancies, hematopoietic stem cells and phase 1 studies, as well as breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, lung and other malignancies
