The Allergy, Asthma and Immunology program has been established by Dr. Rubinstein in 1978, with funding from the National Institutes of Health. It has been continuously certified by the ACGME. Over 100 fellows have graduated from the program and had in the past 27 years a 100% passing rate in National Board Exams. Graduates of the program serve in academic positions and in clinical activities associated with major medical centers throughout the country. Several faculty members in the Division are former graduates of the training program or of the National Institutes of Health.
The training program is a joint effort of the individual Divisions of Allergy/Immunology of the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine.
Dr. Rubinstein directs and coordinates both the Pediatric and Adult Program. He is assisted by Dr. Larry Bernstein, MD (Pediatrics) and Dr. David Rosenstreich, MD (Internal Medicine).
The administrative offices of the overall program are located at 1525 Blondell Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461.
There are two tracks integrated by Dr. Rubinstein:
- The main track: Pediatric/Internal Medicine that is approved for 4 fellows and coordinated by Dr. Bernstein
- The smaller Adult track is approved for 1 fellow coordinated by Dr. Rosenstreich.
The Pediatric/Internal Medicine Track takes fellows trained in either Medicine or Pediatrics.
The Medicine track usually selects fellows who have trained in Internal Medicine.
