Overview
Rehabilitation medicine is a multidisciplinary department whose goals include enabling patients to regain control of their environment and improve their quality of life after a disabling disease or traumatic event.
Physical medicine treatments help patients to alleviate pain and restore or optimize performance at home, at work or in sports, while rehabilitation medicine strategies aid people with physical disabilities.
Patients are evaluated by physiatrists who are board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with special interests in various fields of physiatry. When appropriate, patients are referred to our highly trained and licensed occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech and language pathologists.
