Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s M.D. curriculum committee (MDCC) provides central oversight of the M.D. curriculum to ensure that it meets our objectives of providing a patient-centered education. Empowered by the Einstein Senate Council, and reporting to the dean, the committee performs annual curriculum reviews to ensure that our M.D. students have a strong foundation in basic science, clinical sciences, and health system sciences. This committee systematically reviews the pre-clerkship phase, clinical phase, and entire curriculum, using the lens of our institutional mission, vision, and values and Einstein’s educational program objectives. The MDCC reviews proposed changes to the core curriculum, tracks student workload and performance, and provides accountability for educational continuous quality improvement processes.

The MDCC is composed of diverse stakeholders including course and clerkship directors, faculty members, clinical and education leadership, staff, and students. The committee represents all of the subcommittees that report to it, including the course directors subcommittee, the clinical directors subcommittee, the program evaluation and curriculum improvement subcommittee, the competency-based medical education and student assessment subcommittee, and the nominations and special projects subcommittee.

M.D. Curriculum Subcommittees

Five curriculum subcommittees facilitate communication among students, program directors, and school leadership:

  • course directors subcommittee
  • clinical directors subcommittee
  • program evaluation and curriculum improvement subcommittee
  • competency-based medical education and student assessment subcommittee
  • nominations and special projects subcommittee.

The office of medical education collects, manages, and shares evaluative data with curriculum committee members, program directors, and department chairs.
