Extension & Length of Stay

Time Limitation:

J-1 Research Scholars are eligible for participation in a program for up to 5 years.

Extensions of Stay:

Extensions of stay may be granted up to the 5-year maximum. Requests for extensions of stay should be made at least 120 days prior to the expiration date on the DS-2019 Form. For extension to be processed, a completed Request for J-1 Visa Form for new, transfer, extension signed by the Sponsor (faculty mentor) and submitted to the OIS, internationalservices@einsteinmed.edu. The DS-2019 Form will be provided to the Research Scholar by the OIS with instructions on how to complete the extension process.
