Einstein Appreciation Day

A Celebration of Community
Every June, we host Appreciation Day, a delightful barbeque held on campus to celebrate the contributions of all members of our community. This event has become a cherished tradition, drawing together over 1,400 attendees for an afternoon of food, music, and fun. We also strengthen our bonds and reaffirm our commitment to each other and our shared goals.

On the highly anticipated day of festivities, the dean accompanied by members of his leadership team don aprons and serve up delicious barbeque fare, ensuring everyone feels welcomed and appreciated. Fresh homemade salads and the aroma of grilled meats fills the air mingling with the sounds of laughter and conversation.

One of the highlights of Appreciation Day is the raffle, where attendees have an opportunity to win one of over 75 prizes generously donated by departments. This year, gift cards, Einstein swag, children’s books, an iPad, a Mary Kay gift basket, ear buds, and spirits rounded out    The raffle adds an element of anticipation and joy.

A Heartfelt Thank You
Appreciation Day is more than just a barbeque; it's a heartfelt thank you to all the members of our college community. It’s a day to recognize the hard work, dedication, and contributions of everyone who makes the college thrive.

We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come. Each June, this event reminds us of the vibrant, supportive community we are part of, and the importance of coming together as staff, faculty and students to celebrate our collective achievements. .

Bi-annual Blood Drive

Hosting a blood drive is a meaningful way Einstein reinforces the spirit of giving and mutual aid. Our blood drives bring staff, faculty and students together for a cause that has a profound impact on the community. By participating, individuals not only contribute to a crucial need but also become part of a larger effort to save lives. Donating blood is a simple yet powerful act of kindness that requires minimal time but can make an extraordinary difference.

For over 20 years, Einstein has partnered with the NY Blood Center. On average as a community Einstein members donate over 160 pints per year. Each donation has the potential to save up to three lives, highlighting how a small personal commitment can have a ripple effect, positively influencing countless others.

Our spring and fall blood drives enable us to address critical needs while nurturing a culture of generosity and civic engagement.

Holiday Toy Drive

To benefit the clients of Toys for Tots, and Montefiore’s Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC), human resources encourage the Einstein community to donate new toys or books to help send a message of hope to disadvantaged children during the holidays. The toy drive began shortly after Thanksgiving. Einstein showed its holiday spirit and generosity by donating over 600 items collected from bins conveniently placed in several buildings on campus. Employees, staff, faculty, and students cheerfully gave items suitable for children between newborn and 12-years of age. The Marine’s Toys for Tots Foundation has toy drives in all 50 states. Einstein is proud to join other organizations in hosting a holiday toy drive each year.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

A Time for Education, Support, and Action
Every October, the Einstein community joins organizations and individuals throughout the county to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a dedicated time to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, support those affected by the disease, and fundraise for ongoing research.

Our human resources department in partnership with our creative services department, Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) and Montefiore’s Comprehensive Cancer Center hosts a week of activities to inform the community about the symptoms and risk factors associated with breast cancer. By empowering individuals with knowledge, we can help them take proactive steps toward their health.

During the month as individuals and as teams we participate and organize a variety of activities including the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, bake sales, and raffles.

Health and Wellness Fair

In partnership with 1199SEIU Healthcare Workers’ East, Montefiore Medicine and our providers, human resources hosts an annual health and wellness fair.  Attendees are provided with information and access to the services they need to be healthy and fit.
