Graduate and MSTP Student Benefits

Graduate and MSTP students of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine are offered a bundled package of benefits that include medical and vision benefits.  Optional dental coverage is available.

Medical Plan

We offer the choice of two medical plans – The MontePrime EPO and MonteCare PPO Plans. Both plans utilize providers in the Montefiore network and the Anthem PPO network. Employee cost share will be higher for Anthem providers. Enrollment in the MontePrime EPO plan requires many services to be provided within the Montefiore network (except in the case of a bona fide emergency).  The MonteCare PPO Plan provides the flexibility to use providers and facilities outside of the Montefiore and Anthem networks, but the cost will be higher for healthcare services received out of network.

Prescription Drug Benefits

The prescription drug benefits are included with medical coverage and are administered by Express Scripts Inc (ESI). In addition to the retail pharmacies in the ESI network, and the ESI home delivery services, employees can use the Montefiore Specialty Pharmacy to fill their prescriptions. Prescriptions filled at the Montefiore Specialty Pharmacy are delivered to the Weiler Hospital Pharmacy on the Einstein Campus daily.

The MontePrime EPO Plan provides prescription drug benefits only through the Montefiore Specialty Pharmacy.  However, drugs purchased at a retail pharmacy may be eligible for reimbursement on an exception basis.

Dental Benefits

We offer the choice of two dental plans administered by Cigna; the Cigna DHMO Dental Plan and Cigna PPO Dental plan.

Vision Benefits

We provide coverage in the high option vision plan administered by Spectera, UnitedHealth Care’s vision program. The plan provides benefits for routine eye exams, eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Group Legal Services

Group Legal Services are provided by Hyatt Legal Services. This coverage helps pay all or part of the cost of a wide range of personal legal services through a network of participating attorneys.

Employee Wellness Programs

The Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) provides resources for graduate and MSTP students and their family members to cope with mental health and behavioral issues, family problems and professional matters.

The Bright Horizons Emergency Back-up Care and Enhanced Family Support program can help students find emergency back-up childcare and elder care in their home or at nearby Bright Horizon or partner centers. Enhanced family support assistance and resources are available through a free SitterCity membership.

The Falk Center, Einstein on-site athletic facility is available to students at no cost. Spouses may join at low monthly rates. Membership includes access to many recreation and fitness options as well as group fitness classes and personal training is available at an additional cost.

Sharecare, Einstein’s wellness platform, is available to students to help manage their health and wellbeing. Creative wellness and nutritional support are also available.
