- The new institute will be supervised by the Office of the Dean and housed in Einstein’s Department of Systems and Computational Biology.
- The Institute’s inaugural director is Aviv Bergman, Ph.D., the Harold and Muriel Block Chair in Systems and Computational Biology and professor and founding chair of that department.
- The Institute’s founding faculty will initially be drawn from 27 current faculty members of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and selected by the Institute Director. Additional affiliates, both internally and externally, will be selected by the Institute Director in consultation with existing Institute faculty
- An outside advisory council will be formed, with its members selected by the Institute Director in consultation with existing Institute faculty.
- An internal committee will select from between 4 and 6 independent post-doctoral fellows to work at the Institute, providing it with new ideas and fresh perspectives.
- The Institute will house 2-3 select scholars from the disciplines previously noted to be in-house external faculty for varying degrees of time—ranging from several weeks to a year-long sabbatical. An internal faculty committee led by the Institute Director will serve as the selection committee.
