Department of Cell Biology

Overview

The Department of Cell Biology engages in pioneering basic and translational research and provides exceptional graduate and postdoctoral training in cell and molecular biology, focusing on seven dynamic research areas.

The department has a rich and distinguished history of scientific discovery and innovation. It consistently ranks among the top 10 in the nation in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and in the top 5 in NIH funding per investigator. Our faculty participate and have leading roles in a variety of Einstein centers and institutes, including the Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center (MECC), the Ruth L. and David S. Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine, MECC’s Cancer Dormancy and Tumor Microenvironment Institute, MECC’s Blood Cancer Institute, the Institute for Aging Research, the Gruss-Lipper Biophotonics Center, and the Wilf Family Cardiovascular Research Institute.
