Education Ranon E. Mann, M.D.Faculty ProfileResearch Profile Welcome from the Program Director Ranon E. Mann, M.D. The Division of Dermatology at Einstein was founded 50 years ago and has evolved and expanded over the years. Our core mission has always been to train highly qualified medical dermatologists, but the division has grown to include all facets of dermatologic training, including Mohs and cosmetic surgery, dermatopathology, and pediatric dermatology. Our residents see patients at major academic hospitals, including Montefiore Medical Center and Jacobi Medical Center/North Central Bronx Hospital. The pathology seen at these hospitals is without parallel. As our hospitals are located in the Bronx, our patients come from across the globe, thus caring for cutaneous disease presenting in diverse skin phototypes becomes second nature. Led by a dedicated attending staff, including board-certified experts in Dermatopathology, Pediatric Dermatology, Mohs surgery, and Cosmetic Dermatology, a close relationship is fostered between our faculty and residents. Each clinic is precepted by a full-time attending to ensure continuity of care for our patients and excellent training for our house staff. Residents in our program have a great deal of autonomy in caring for our population. Whether in clinic or while covering the inpatient service, they are encouraged to take the initiative and to formulate treatment plans. As our program is large (19 current residents), the ability to teach, collaborate, and learn from one’s peers is routine. Co-residents are always present to assist, support, and stimulate their colleagues. Didactic sessions are paramount in our program and are delivered by attendings and residents. Weekly grand rounds, clinicopathologic quarterly conferences, and basic science lectures are our core activities. We are dedicated to providing residents with a top-notch dermatology residency. Our attendings are compassionate, energetic, and eager to teach. Training in NYC with all its cultural, recreation, and entertainment opportunities is an added bonus. Ranon E.
