Program Description

Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers two ACGME-approved, one-year fellowship positions in hematopathology each year. As a major academic tertiary-care hospital in New York City, we provide resources and materials in all aspects of hematopathology, with a mix of adult and pediatric bone-marrow and lymph-node biopsies as well as consultation from our surgical pathology service. Each year, we receive approximately 800 to 1,000 bone-marrow biopsies, 800 to 1,000 lymph-node biopsies and over 3,000 flow cytometry specimens for immunophenotyping. The program is enhanced by strong, benign hematology, coagulation and cytogenetics/molecular services.

Our faculty members are dedicated to teaching and are well-known for their highly personal, one-on-one teaching approach. Graduating fellows are fully prepared for a career in either an academic or private practice setting. Both H1 and J1 visas are supported.
