State of the College Address

Yaron Tomer, M.D., the Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, delivered his inaugural State of the College Address, on January 7, 2026, in Robbins Auditorium. The address celebrated Einstein’s 70-year history of educating compassionate and committed leaders in health and science, driving scientific discovery, and delivering exceptional healthcare for all through partnerships with our vibrant Bronx community.

In his presentation, the dean shared recent milestones, including the founding of three new institutes – the Marilyn & Stanley M. Katz Institute for Immunotherapy for Cancer & Inflammatory Disorders, the Data Science Institute, and the Institute for Health Equity – and launching the Einstein Learning Communities Program for M.D. students and M.D./Ph.D. students.

Dr. Tomer also celebrated the visionary and inspiring leadership of Philip O. Ozuah, M.D., Ph.D., Montefiore Einstein President and Chief Executive Officer, and Ruth Gottesman, Ed.D., Chair of the Einstein Board of Trustees, whose transformational gift established the Gottesman Scholarship, ensuring that all M.D. students at Einstein can attend medical school tuition-free.
