Professional Interests

Dr. Michael L. Rinke, MD, PhD, MBA is the Vice President and Chief Quality Officer for Montefiore Medical Center and Director of Dissemination and Implementation Science and a Professor of Pediatrics at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Rinke’s research focuses on the application of behavior change techniques and implementation science to improve the quality of care delivered to children in both the inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Dr. Rinke was the PI on his 3rd AHRQ R01 grant (R01HS026239) investigating how to ensure every child receives guideline compliant and timely hypertension diagnosis and management. He was previously PI on two AHRQ R01 grants (R01HS24432 & R01HS023608) examining multiple pediatric ambulatory healthcare-associated infections and the effects of a national quality improvement collaborative on ambulatory pediatric diagnostic errors. He is corresponding-PI on an AHRQ Learning Healthcare System training K12 grant (K12HS026396) and co-investigator on the Einstein Clinical and Translational Science Award (UL1TR001073) as co-Director of the Health Research and Implementation Core. Dr. Rinke has extensive experience leading quality improvement collaboratives, publishing rigorous dissemination and implementation science, and successfully directing large research teams. 

Dr. Rinke completed his medical and pediatric residency training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He received his Doctorate in Clinical Investigation from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and his Master of Business Administration at Marist College.
