Research Profiles

Professional Interests

My research interests have been directed at questions in male reproductive biology.  My early career focused on chromatin and chromosome structure in developing sperm, and later on cell-cell interactions important for sperm development.  Gap junction communications in the seminiferous epithelium have been of particular interest since disruption of these communication pathways result in male sterility.

My efforts are now more concerned with issues in education, with a focus on medical education and training of future faculty.  I have been a Course Leader and teacher in two Histology/Cell Structure courses and taught in four other courses.  In addition, I have initiated a program of training in basic pedagogical principles for students, postdocs and faculty.  Now in retirement as an Emeritus Professor, I am continuing my efforts in teacher training via the course "Fundamentals of Course Design and Teaching" and other activities.
