Scientific American quotes Peter Belamarich, M.D., and cites his research that found health claims made by infant formula manufacturers are not supported by evidence. In response to his report, which was published in Clinical Pediatrics in 2015, the Food and Drug Administration now suggests that manufacturers conduct clinical trials to prove their claims. Dr. Belamarich is associate professor and chief of general pediatrics at Einstein and vice-chair for affiliate and network relations at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
