Overview

NYPOG was established in 2017 to promote collaboration among physicians and scientists in the New York metropolitan area who are interested in pro-metastatic tumor microenvironments and the effect of systemic therapy on cancer cell dissemination and metastatic seeding. Current NYPOG members have diverse but complimentary expertise in pathology, oncology, surgery, epidemiology, cancer biology, optical physics, engineering, and biophysics. This diverse array of expertise provides a unique opportunity for vertical scientific integration whereby the discoveries from each of the subspecialties contribute towards the completion of a common goal. Furthermore, NYPOG enables the evaluation of large multi-racial cohorts of patients and their samples. This is essential for translation of scientific discoveries into patient care which will be facilitated by collaborations and resources within the NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in four of the NYPOG member institutions.

Mission

NYPOG will translate basic science discoveries regarding cancer cell dissemination and formation of metastases into clinical practice.
