• Dr. Tomaselli gave the Dean’s report, commenting on the recent gun violence episodes and providing an update on ongoing searches and appointments.

• Dr. Gamble gave the Speaker’s report, updating the Senate on two recent council meetings and reminding the Senate members to pay their dues.

• Dr. Gennerich updated the Senate on the status of the Dean’s appointment committee and asked for nominations to take over the chairmanship of the Committee on committees.

• Dr. Freedman discussed the need to increase the graduate students stipends to maintain competitiveness in the New York area. A motion supporting “the urgent need for an increase in graduate student and postdoctoral stipends to a level that is competitive with the New York City area peer institutions” was voted and approved.
