The December meeting was opened with Dean Spiegel outlining the causes of Einstein's financial strain, how he was presently dealing with them, and how he hoped to assuage them in the future.

Dr. Michael Prystowsky then presented the recommendation of the Senate Advisory Committee – that Dean Spiegel be reappointed with improvement of faculty morale as a high priority. This was followed by a discussion by the faculty of the methods used by the Committee to reach their recommendation.

A vote was taken and the Senate approved the reappointment of Dean Allen Spiegel for a four-year term.
