Dr. Burns chaired the meeting.
The minutes of the May 18th meeting were approved.
The document labeled “Approach to graduate student rotations” was discussed. It was emphasized that this is an approach that is not carved in stone and may need modification. Cases will be evaluated on an individual basis. The approach was designed with the welfare of the students in mind. There needs to be a balance between the desire to offer students a broad range of labs to work in and the ability of labs to support students. Concern was expressed about the impact of the current approach on student morale and recruiting for future graduate student classes. It was hoped that enhancements to the approach could be made by the graduate division in consultation with the faculty.
The meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeffrey E. Segall, Ph.D.
Speaker, Einstein Senate
