Einstein Senate
Senate Meeting: Wednesday, March 2, 2016
- After approval of the Minutes, Dr. Allen Spiegel gave his Dean’s report highlighting two recent events held at Einstein. The Rare Disease Day sponsored by Dr. Sophie Molhom, the Associate Director of the Kennedy Intellectual Developmental Disabilities Research Centers, and the Annual Marshall Horwitz Prize lecture which this year was given to Dr. Scott Emmons.
- In his Speaker’s Report, Dr. Jeffrey Segall reported on two Council meetings and on one Board of Trustee’s meeting. The Council meetings focused on the New York Genome and the Structural Biology Centers, and on the Einstein budget, respectively. Regarding the Board meeting, several brief reports were presented by the various Board committees as well as a presentation by the Dean summarizing the strategic plan.
- Dr. Pamela Stanley, Chair of the Ad Hoc Senate Committee presented the Committee’s recommendations for changes to the Tenure and Compensation policy. There were no objections to the proposed changes and a revised document will be sent for electronic vote. In addition, a motion was approved for the Committee on Committees to form a committee to work with the Administration to update the pamphlet on moving up at Einstein.
