The faculty development committee concept was further discussed and that the philanthropy process should be very clearly coordinated with the development office. One idea is that each department could have a representative who would consistently deal with the development office. The Philanthropy Council could be part of this.

Oversight of the development process was discussed. Development officers could come to a faculty meeting perhaps twice a year. It is important to have a continuing conversation – department chairs have been asked to 1 sheet white papers for development people. Also cross departmental programs could be developed.

A presentation regarding commercialization/tech transfer senate and council by Janis Paradiso was suggested. Also surveillance of existing IP was discussed as an important component.

The revision of the Board of Trustees was discussed.

An Einstein IT group is visiting Johns Hopkins next week and then CIO representatives are visiting a month from now. It was suggested that the council request Shailesh Shenoy to present the current list of IT plans to discuss with the CIO group.

The meeting adjourned at 4 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Jeffrey E. Segall, Ph.D.
Speaker, Einstein Senate
