Updates:
- The Montefiore transition was discussed. There is hope for a rapid selection of a new CEO, perhaps by the end of this year.
- Negotiations with the Cancer Center candidate are ongoing.
- Negotiations with New York state regarding funding of a GMP facility are promising.
- There is a strategic planning process beginning for Einstein. The consulting group ECG (the consulting group used for the last Einstein strategic plan) has been engaged. A November 18th meeting has been scheduled for the start. The goal is to finish by spring of 2020.
Discussion:
Although there were announcements on the screens of the passing of Jon Warner, it was requested to have an email announcement as soon as possible acknowledging the passing of members of the Einstein community.
For the Senate Council officers election, an email to Senators soliciting self-nominations was suggested.
Philanthropy was discussed. The AAMC has presented a report detailing various statistics of philanthropy for medical schools. Einstein philanthropy is currently less than the median, as is the size of the development office, reflecting the need to increase staff in order to reach the levels that we are capable of.
The meeting adjourned at 4:06 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeffrey E. Segall, Ph.D.
Speaker, Einstein Senate
