Both he and Dr. Tomer – who also spoke briefly about this transformational gift – were currently in Palm Beach, Florida talking to potential donors.

• Dr. Kitsis presented the Dean’s Report. She gave updates on the site visits by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care. She also discussed three efforts related to LCME: the faculty feedback program, the introduction of learning communities, and the renovation of the Einstein library later this spring/summer. Finally, Dr. Kitsis talked about the searches that are in progress or will be beginning in the near future.

• Dr. Arnsten gave the Speaker’s Report. The Senate Council session on February 21 was focused on the presentation from the Data Science Task Force, that was also planned for later in the Senate Meeting. In addition, there was a conversation about Staff Scientist salaries. The latest Senate Council meeting covered future topics to bring to the Senate.

• Dr. Arnsten then turned the floor over for announcements on events at Einstein. Arianne Andrusco talked about Pi Day on March 14. Elaine Iandoli shared information about the annual STAT Madness contest. Dr. Alyson Myers spoke about a meeting being held on prevention of diabetic foot ulcers.

• Dr. Lynn Holden discussed the activities of the Office of Diversity Enhancement, including E-Boards in need of faculty advisors, the Einstein Community Building Grant, D&I action groups, and the second annual Diversity Week in Medicine and Science.

• Dr. Jacqueline Achkar presented on the work of the Data Science Task Force and demonstrated the new online Data Science Hub.

• For old business, the presentation of the findings of the childcare task force to Montefiore HR has been stalled and Dr. Arnsten will get it back on track.

• For new business, Dr. Jeff Segall proposed that the Senate formally acknowledge Dr. Gottesman’s gift. The resolution was voted on by the Senators and approve unanimously.
